Cappadocia has been making wine for around four thousand years, since the Hittites, and the grapes here are ones you will not have drunk anywhere else: Emir, a white grown only on this plateau, and Kalecik Karasi and Okuzgozu among the reds. The volcanic soil and the cold nights do something particular to them. You start at a local winery, in a cave cellar where the barrels are kept at the temperature the rock holds all year, and taste three or four of them with someone who can explain what you are drinking. Then you choose the one you liked, take the bottle with you, and drive to the Red Valley, where the rock turns red as the sun drops.

What to expect

• This is a private tour. Only you and your own group take part, with your own guide and vehicle.
• The tour starts about three hours before sunset, so the time changes through the year. We confirm it with you the day before.
• It lasts around 4 hours in total, including the drive to and from your hotel.
• You taste 3 to 4 Cappadocian wines at the winery, and a bottle of the wine you choose is included for every two guests, to take to the sunset.
• Hotel pick-up and drop-off in Cappadocia are included.
• Children are welcome and travel free of charge. Tell us how many are coming when you book, so we can send a vehicle with enough seats and bring soft drinks for them.

Good to know before you book

• Wine is served to guests aged 18 and over.
• The sunset viewpoint is on open ground with no shelter. Bring a jacket, as it cools quickly once the sun drops.
• One bottle is included for every two guests. If you would like more, extra bottles and snacks can be bought at the winery.

Cancellation Policy

To receive a full refund, you can cancel up to 24 hours before the tour, in local time. Cancellations made after that are non-refundable.
